Copenhagen. Wait...what?

Yes, you've read right. This entry is about Copenhagen. Denmark's capital city.
And you've read right again. I will start writing in English.
But one thing after another.

I left China three days after I returned from Malaysia. Truth is, on my way to the airport, ready to go to Kuala Lumpur to get my new China visa, I got an offer to work in Copenhagen. So from one second to another I decided to take it up and while chillin' on the beach I booked a last-minute ticket back to Germany and cancelled my contract with a company in Shanghai, where I was supposed to move at around the same time my flight to Europe was now leaving.

So I arrived in Germany 7/31, after exactly 11.5 months in Asia. I enjoyed being pampered for a bit and on 8/30 I took off to Copenhagen, Denmark. So here I am. Working as horribly underpaid market manager for a small Danish telecommunications company.

I'm writing in English now because this is no longer for my family. I am now even closer to them than when I live in Germany in my university's city, so...yeah. I can go see them whenever I want, it's three hours by train. Denmark is not that exciting and different, so no need for me to make my life unnecessarily difficult by writing in German. ^^

My first day in Copenhagen, getting an overview.

Actually, there's a statue under water, in front of the three blue plates. But the water wasn't
very clear, so I didn't even try to take a picture. I already have one, anyway. It's not my first time here.

City.

Rosenborg Castle.

Frederiks Church.
My work place is right behind this church, so I have a really nice view every day.

Harbour.

A bunch of Chinese tourists! Felt like home. ♥
Oh and, y'know, Copenhagen's most famous landmark, the little mermaid.

Bridge. Church. Water. Tourist. The usual.

"Serenity Cupcakes", a cupcake bakery not too far from work. They are all self-made by that really nice girl that owns the bakery and they're really delicious!

During the "Occupy Utopia" here in CPH. They call it 'art'. I'd rather read those books.

The house where I live now. My room's window is hidden behind one of the bushes. ^^

Tuborg beer brewery in the neighborhood.

Tuborg Havnepark.

Majestic Maersk, the world's biggest container ship (18.000 containers), returned home from
her maiden voyage. Everybody was very excited, apparently. Well. Welcome back, I guess.

I will most likely still post pictures from Asia here. I have a shitload that I have been meaning to post but never got around to. And I will travel a bit here (though not as much because I work all week and am dead on the weekends), so that will make for some photos, too. Yay.

About this place

This blog started out as a place to keep my family and friends updated during my time as exchange student. That's why the initial posts here are written in German. Then I decided to try and become more serious about blogging. So I revamped the blog and started writing in English for a broader audience and for now....here we are. :D I may be writing about my past journeys and translate the older entries, too. But there's still a lot to do and I will try to do it one thing after the other. It'll be a slow process, so please bear with me. :)

About the tales

I am neither a professional writer, nor a professional photographer, so what you will read here are my personal, often clumsy, stories about my travels and adventures, friends and companions, accentuated by mobile phone pictures. I do own a Nikon DSLR camera, which is put to use sometimes, but more often than not I am too lazy to carry it around with me while exploring places. I work hard to support my lifestyle and my dreams, so while it will take me longer to go on the next journey, I can go proudly because I have earned it all myself. ❤

About the Globetrotter

My photo
I am an int'l business graduate, freelance translator and customer relations manager for a well-known online travel agency and have lived in Germany, China, Denmark and Spain. I immensely enjoy exploring new places, meeting new people and learning about their culture, language and lifestyle. My preferred travel destination is Asia, but I want to see the rest of the world, too. Well, most of it. On top of my list is Pyongyang. I will get there, eventually.
